Viyali is a teledrama that is telecasting in Rupavahini television channel. The teledrama has been created based on 'Dadamankada' novel written by Shanthi Dissanayake. Viyali is directed by 'Chandana Irugalbandara'. He has brought the novel to the television. In the teledrama Darshana Ruwan Dissanayake works as the music director. And also cinematographer is Chandana Jayasinghe. It has been succeed through all these person's works. In this teledrama there are several celebrities are acting to create a better production. All of them work together for its success.

✔Summary of Story

Viyali teledrama follows the main character's struggles with love, family and family expectations throughout her life. The plot diverts regularly originate from miscommunication, privileged insights and struggle between traditional beliefs and contemporary objectives. Generally, the story line fixates on the Hero's endeavors to be consistent with themselves and pursue the right choices in attempting conditions. The main character frequently finds themselves in a situation where they have to decide how to reconcile their own needs with those of their family and society. 

✔Characters In the Teledrama

Kalu

Kalu is an innocent, very virtuous person who loves and benevolences everyone and he is in a very helpless situation. He has only few person's love, they are Kiri Noni as his sister, Palingu as his mother and Mala who live in jungle lonely. He also loves them. Sometimes when remember his mother and sister he cries alone.

 Kalu's father treats him as he is not a his son. So he always scolds Kalu with obscene words. Kalu is a very quiet person. He used to watch his father very quietly when father scolds him or he when he is in a struggle. Even though his father always insults him he respects his father. 

He is also oppressed by the society. Society has made him a fatherless son and as a delinquent. But he did nothing wrong. As his mother said he doesn't kill even a ant. But he doesn't hate anyone, he try to help everyone. He has a melted heart. And most of time he faces emotional situations with his lonely and love. Sometimes he cries alone when he can't stand it. Only one person who can understand him. She is Kanthi. When Kalu is suffering from a problem or when he want to talk to someone, he goes to Kanthi. Kanthi used to Listen him and share emotions. 

He has not had a chance to educate. Love has never been given a chance to receive. When he is playing with his sister, his father blames him. While talking  to his mother, he is scolded by his father and he separate them from Kalu. His character go through in a miserable way. 

Palingu

Palingu is a beautiful and kind woman who lives a very sad life. She is living a very oppressed life between Kalu and her husband. She cannot side with her son because she respects and obeys her husband. But because of her immense love for her son, she cannot leave him. Her husband always blame and remember Kalu is as her fault. She is always hurt by her husband. So most of time Palingu used to cry alone. At one time she tries to even kill herself. Although he hurts Palingu, she receives her husband's love.

She is a very good hearted, innocent and helpful woman, mother and a wife. Despite being harassed, she treats her husband with the utmost affection and respect. She suffered a lot hiding her love for her son in her heart since he was born. Through the character of Palingu the teledrama shows, the life story of a village woman who suffers a lot for her children. 

Mala

Mala is a strong woman who lives in the jungle alone. She plays a great role in the story because of her attitudes, skills and her life story. She is a courageous woman who is not afraid of anything. She treats people by using invisible force. So she has a power to protect herself. 

She doesn't trust people, she trusts animals. So she adopts a cobra as her friend. She expresses her feelings with it. But she starts loving Kalu. Mala's character shows the lifestyle of a woman who lives alone. 

Nayomi

Nayomi is innocent girl who 18 years old. Her family includes mother, father and brother. She really loves them. Although she had no financial difficulties, she lost her mother's love because her mother had gone to work in abroad and her father's love because her father died suddenly. Some men try use her for their needs because of her beauty. After mother leaving them Nayomi take care of her father and brother. But after father's death she is harassed by her father's friend named Ranaweera. 

Through the character of Nayomi, this story shows the harassment and oppression of society when a young girl is alone without the care of her parents.

* Love and care

The teledrama explores how people love others such as partner, children, siblings, parents, friends and even animals. Because of their love people always try to protect them getting decisions appropriately to the situations. Kalu loves his family but his father and brother don't love him. Despite various obstacles palingu and Kiri Noni love a lot Kalu. It is love. 

* Social issues

Most people in the society work destroy relationships between people rather than protect them. The conflict between Kalu's mother and father was caused by listening the stories of villages. They tell lies about people and also society make stories about people and spread them throughout village. Then it make conflicts among people. Most of time they use words to hurt people. People embarrass Kalu by asking him about his father. It is a society of a village. 

Viyali is a successful creation. It is an award winning creation. Because of its cinematography, characterization, realism of the acting, choice of backgrounds, success of character's acting, background music, realism of the story, locations and all.
